How to Play Pai Gow Poker
Pai Gow Poker is a version of Pai Gow, an ancient Chinese game. Instead of using dominos, it uses a deck of cards. It’s exceptionally enjoyable but can take a little time to learn. You can find out how to play Pai Gow Poker when you read through this page.
The Goal
As with many casino games, the goal of Pai Gow Poker is to beat the dealer. You’ll need to make two hands – a five-card high hand and a two-card low hand. These two hands will go up against the banker’s hands, and both, one, or neither can win.
How to Play Pai Gow Poker
Pai Gow Poker looks daunting, and it can be complicated to work out the two hands, but with a little practice, you’ll be able to learn how to play this exciting game. To start, check out the step-by-step guide below.
- You start the game by choosing how much money you want to bet.
- The cards are then dealt – both you and the dealer receive seven cards each.
- You split your hand into a five-card high hand and a two-card low hand. The five-card hand must have a higher ranking than the two-card hand.
- The dealer then shows their cards.
- You then compare your five-card and two-card hands. You can win both, just one, or neither. If you only win one, the hand is a push. If you win both, you’ll double your money minus a 5% commission. Lose both and you’ll lose your bet. Tied hands are wins for the dealer.
